I work in AI, while my husband is in quantum computing, both with PhDs from prestigious universities, solely engaged in frontline scientific research. Quantum computing is poised to be the next AI, currently mostly just a topic within the stock market... the stock market is just the stock market... Quantum computing stocks may continue to soar, but scientifically, there will only be certain application opportunities in at least 5-10 years if it develops well. (I dare not say 20 years, because 3 years ago we thought AGI would take 10 years, but now we see its early stages.)
But just like how everyone is slapping their thighs now, why didn't they buy Bitcoin over a decade ago... Once quantum computing is achieved, many may slap their thighs in regret in 20 years, wondering why they didn't invest in XX stocks.![]()
I really want to short, but my husband disagrees (so I won't short). It seems that the stock market doesn't care whether something makes money now or in the near future: the bigger the idea, the more investors believe in it, which is more crucial. Otherwise, why is it that even though all AI practitioners can't do without A100, NVIDIA is still plummeting.
