In January 2023, the path of investing in US stocks officially began. The goal I set for myself in early 2023 was to generate 100K CNY (20k SGD, 14k USD) income by investing in leading stocks and fixed index funds.
Actual benefits:
From 2021-12-31 to 2023-12-31, the stock invested capital was 38,635 USD, with a total profit of 10,782 USD (14.2K SGD; 76.3K CNY), with a yield of 27.9%. Half of the profits came from MSFT ($6,773).
Reflecting on what I haven't done well:
1) Xiaomi lost 447.5 USD when buying Hong Kong stocks. Fortunately, it was promptly cleared and transferred to US stocks.
2) At the end of November, I learned through the news of Xi Jinping's visit to the US that the Chinese government will purchase Boeing aircraft and immediately take a stake in Boeing at a low price. At the same time, I learned the news that Tesla had released a new car, and immediately took a stake in the low-priced Tesla. However, they all became fearful and immediately sold off because they heard a reminder from the “stock god” shared by their friends. As a result, I earned almost 1K USD less.
3) Failure to set QQQ and VOO according to personal plans. The reason is that the previous investment in China's Shanghai and Shenzhen 300 and China Securities 500 has been hacked down. I have a sense of fear that wolves are coming, so I'm afraid to vote easily, and I want to watch for a while. Up to now, the return on investment for QQQ and VOO is 14.71% and 18.71%, respectively.
