Huawei released its first AI laptop MateBook X Pro this week, which is equipped with Intel's AI chip Core Ultra 9 processor.
The Intel Core Ultra processor was launched at the end of last year, based on Intel's 4-nanometer technology, with more advanced processing capabilities for artificial intelligence (AI) compared to previous products. Reuters cited sources as saying that these chips were shipped under existing licenses and are not included in the recent US restrictions on exporting AI chips to China.
Some Republican lawmakers in the USA have stated that the release of this laptop is unacceptable, claiming that it reflects the Biden administration's 'green light' to sanctioned Huawei, actively working to undermine the national security of the USA. Michael McCaul, chairman of the Republican-led House Foreign Affairs Committee, responded to Reuters, stating that these approvals must be stopped. Two years ago, he was informed that licenses to Huawei would be stopped. Today, it appears that the policy has not changed.
The MateBook X Pro is the first laptop to apply Huawei's PanGu model, collaborating with ecosystem partners such as WPS AI, Xunfei Xinghuo, Zhifu Qingyan, and others to provide over 100 AI smart applications.
