The selling down ahead of  earning report is mainly due to investors apprehension on the outcome with respect to the strengthening of ringgit in that particular quarter. Earning for the quarter would definitely be impacted by foreign exchange losses , as has happened to P Chem, Mi,... with their results shown. Ringgit has since softened to some extent after the US presidential election.
