One quick look at the market and I knew it wasn’t a good month for the portfolio.
The market continues to be volatile going into the earnings season and some of the stocks didn’t quite perform up to the earnings expectations that they have announced. Furthermore, the Chinese and HK market continue to be very volatile in the wake event of the US-China tension that continues to dominate the headlines.

$Amazon (AMZN.US)$
Analysts and investors are congratulating one another for Amazon’s blown out second quarter earnings which sends its post-market shares up by a massive 14%.
But is it really that good?
Let’s first recap on what we remember in the first quarter results announced a couple of months ago – with summary appended below.

$Netflix (NFLX.US)$
What is the lesser of the two evils – posting a slower growth or losing lesser subscribers?
Apparently, the market thinks the latter is better as post-market share price jumps after Netflix announces that it has lost lesser subscribers than what it had originally anticipated.
“Again, we’re talking about losing 1 million [subscribers] instead of 2 million,” CEO Hastings said. “Our excitement is temper...

This is a follow-up from the previous part 1 of the article where we mentioned that we’ll be moving out back to our place next month. You can find that article link here.
So after we made our decision to move back, we quickly contacted our routinely familiar agent to list our current place for marketing. Back then, we weren’t sure of the demand situation so we made it a point to open it both for sale and for rent.

Over the past week, we have an important report from inflation which is at the heart of everyone’s attention.
The CPI Annual inflation rate in the US accelerated to 9.1% in the month of Jun 2022, which records the highest in 41 years, and above the market forecasts of 8.8%.
Energy prices rose the most with a 41.6% increase – contributed by fuel oil at 98.5%, gasoline at 59.9% and electricity by 13.7%.

After the last hint on my July portfolio updates, we finally have some updates where we are moving next which we are ready to share.
Just to give a little context before I start, we bought this property which we currently stay in just right before the onset of Covid ~ 3 years ago when we decided to move out to a smaller home due to some financial situation after my Dad was hit by a stroke and we had to cough out a huge sum in the range of $200k-$300k fo...

The stock market continues to be volatile throughout the month of Jul so far following the end of the 1H.
The market goes up for one day and then down for another, and then it goes back up again and people are calling it a bear market rally. Truth is, no one really knows about the direction in the market and these people are hesitant to enter back in yet didn’t want to miss the run when it matters.

I posted this chart a couple of days ago on my Facebook page which pretty much sums up the entire performance of global stock market in a quick snapshot for the 1H of the year.
You can see that with the exception of the Indonesia market which manages to edge out a small gain of 3+%, the rest of the market has been seeing a pretty rough year to date so far with most global markets falling by double digit percentage.

Digital Core REIT (SGX: DCRU) $DigiCore Reit USD (DCRU.SG)$ has undergone a pretty rough patch in the past few months.
Since hitting the peak back in March at a price of $1.16, the share price has gone one way down languishing below the IPO price at $0.77.
This means everyone who’s bought into this REIT are staring at a loss, including those who bought them during the IPO (myself included).
Is this the right time to accumulate ...

I was reading this article last week on young graduates seeking for employment when it struck me that I have once been in that stage before more than a decade ago – and as I will detail later below why I think it sets a good place to start.
Back to the article, one of the interviewee applied for over 60 applications, received just under half a dozen back for interviews, and secured 3 job offers.
That is a pretty decent stats (3/60 = 5%) in this kind...
