The US Chamber of Commerce said in an email to its members on Thursday, November 21, that the Biden administration will implement new export restrictions on Chinese semiconductors as soon as next week.
Reuters reported on Friday, November 22, quoting part of an email, that the new regulations will blacklist up to 200 Chinese chip companies, prohibiting most US suppliers from exporting goods to these companies.
The email stated that the Department of Commerce, which oversees US export policy, plans to publish the above regulations before the Thanksgiving holiday next Thursday, November 28. The US will also announce new restrictions on artificial intelligence next month, imposing restrictions on high-bandwidth memory chips exported to China.
