I love this time of the year because it's when my birthday is around the corner and everybody is in a festive mood, which feels like everybody is celebrating my birthday with me!

I feel that there should not be a fixed number. Instead, we have to lump all the things you want in life together and rank them according to the priority of ownership. Next, take the monthly salary you have and put aside savings to buy each item you want. Therefore, if you rank owning a car at number 1, you will be able to afford it sooner than if you rank it at number 3. Hope this helps you in making a decision. For me I rank retirement and hom...
Our family usually head overseas once a year during the school holidays. Next year, Hong Kong, Rome and Iceland are strong candidates! They are very different destinations, which is why we will have a fun time listing down the pros and cons before deciding on our choice. I also can achieve financial freedom. With time, patience, tenacity and belief. I may not be the one to earn millions, but I will surely reach my goals by the time I retire. #canlah #ialsocan
Our habits have evolved. Buying online through our computers and phones will become more prevalent than going to the shops. My bet is GRAB. Although it's not strictly a shopping platform, the services they offer are wide and varied. Everybody needs something from what GRAB offers daily. I'm betting on GRAB to grow from strength to strength and huat!

There can be no doubt that when it comes to investment, investing for the long term is the better way. So how do I do it?
For my long term investments, I tend to pick a basket of stocks rather than single stocks. I go for themes. For example Banking, Technology, Manufacturing. I have some investments in unit trust that are upwards of 20 years. Recently, I've also purchased ETFs. These investments have reaped great returns without me having to make constant adjustments to my portfolio.
On the contrary, shares that I've purchased over the years have not performed quite so well. Plus, I have had to constantly monitor them and make adjustments every now and then.
I'm conclusion, it is important that you select a theme that you have conviction in. Then you just let time do it's magic by holding on for the ride. Over the years, if your conviction does not change, you may add more money into the investment, as a way of dollar cost averaging.
