Former President Donald Trump responded to the news that $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ CEO Elon Musk's planned $Twitter (Delisted) (TWTR.US)$ buyout is temporarily on hold.
"There is no way Elon Musk is going to buy Twitter at such a ridiculous price, especially since realizing it is a company largely based on BOTS or Spam Accounts," Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The past week has been a dark period in the history of crypto, with the total market capitalization of this industry dipping as low as $1.2 trillion for the first time since July 2021. The turmoil, in large part, has been due to the real-time disintegration of $Terra (LUNA.CC)$.
Last week, Terra has officially stopped block production as the blockchain's native token hit a low of $0.0003, near zero.

Stock rebound to extend in Asia; Treasuries drop
Asian stocks are set to open higher after technology shares led U.S. equities to their biggest rally in nine months as traders bet the omicron Covid variant won't stall the global recovery. Treasuries extended declines.
Futures pointed higher in Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ chalked the biggest gain since March to erase all the losses suffered after Jerome Powell's hawkish tilt a week ago. Gauges of volatility retreated, with the Cboe Volatility Index sliding.
Pfizer shot offers partial Omicron shield
In the first reported experiments gauging the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines against the worrisome new strain, researchers at the institute found that the variant could partially evade the vaccine produced by $Pfizer (PFE.US)$ and $BioNTech (BNTX.US)$. Still, its evasion wasn't complete and a booster shot could provide additional protection.
AmEx sees holiday spending soaring as Omicron fails to bite
$American Express (AXP.US)$ said the omicron variant has yet to put a damper on holiday shopping.
Consumer retail spending on the firm's cards so far this quarter -- AmEx's best proxy for holiday results -- has soared 30% compared to pre-pandemic levels, CFO Jeff Campbell told investors at a conference Tuesday.
Tesla rebounds from selloff, leading EV stocks higher
$Tesla (TSLA.US)$, which lost 6.2% last week and extended its decline Monday to briefly fall over 20% from its early November high, helped lift sentiment for other EV producers. UBS Group AG boosted its price target to $1,000 from $725 and said the company is "cementing" its leadership as the electric-vehicle market takes off. Tesla shares rose 4.2% to about $1,052.
MEME ETF is launching as day-trader bets slump

The product is set to track the Solactive Roundhill Meme Stock Index -- which screens companies based on social-media activity and short interest to create a portfolio of 25 retail-friendly equities.
Amazon Web Services outage brings some delivery operations to a standstill
$Amazon (AMZN.US)$'s cloud computing unit on Tuesday was hit with an outage that took down some websites and services. A notice on AWS' status page confirmed it was experiencing issues in the "US-East-1 Region."
The outage brought down popular services like Disney+, $Netflix (NFLX.US)$ and $Coinbase (COIN.US)$, along with critical internal tools at Amazon like its Flex and AtoZ apps used by warehouse and delivery workers.
Elon Musk says 'civilization is going to crumble' if people dont have more children
The tech billionaire said low and rapidly declining birth rates are "one of the biggest risks to civilization." His comments come as a growing number of people are deciding not to have children, citing concerns such as climate change and inequality.
Musk added that too many "good, smart people" think there are too many people in the world and that the population is growing out of control.
Intel plans to take self-driving car unit public in the U.S. in mid-2022

Columns Does fund manager tenure matter?
What type of fund manager do you like? --Long-tenure or short-tenure fund manager?
First, let's specify the definition of "long-tenure" and "short-tenure". We use a range of zero to three years to define "short tenure", and six years and greater to define the "long tenure".
On a pretax basis, the average long-tenure manager underperforms the average short-tenure manager by 0.03 percentage point a year.
For posttax returns, long-tenure managers outperform short-tenure managers by 0.14 percentage point a year, on average.
Why does this reversal happen? The answer is that short-tenure managers are trading much more often than long-tenure managers. For investors, more trading means a much larger tax bill at the end of the day.

Exchange-traded funds focused on electric vehicles could catch some momentum from the massive infrastructure bill Congress passed on last Friday, which contains billions in new spending for the industry.
The roughly $1 trillion package allocates $7.5 billion to build out a network of EV chargers and another $7.5 billion for low or zero-emission buses and ferries.
Electric-vehicle ETFs have done well this year, taking in twice the amount of investor flows than they did in 2020. But interest seems to be waning suddenly. A basket of electric car and battery funds have seen net outflows of $25.8 million in November.
- according to Bloomberg Intelligence.
That recent trend could reverse due to the infrastructure package, as it focuses on developing the EV ecosystem, according to Todd Rosenbluth, head of ETF and mutual fund research at CFRA. He's eyeing both the $Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles ETF (DRIV.US)$and $Ishares Self-Driving Ev And Tech Etf (IDRV.US)$.
“The funds own not just automakers like $Ford Motor (F.US)$, $Toyota Motor (TM.US)$ and $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ but also technology and communications services companies that are part of the supply chain as well materials companies making lithium.”
- Todd Rosenbluth wrote in an email.

The EV sector got a big jolt in late October when $Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. (HTZZ.US)$ announced an order of 100,000 Tesla vehicles, which drove the Tesla's market valuation past $1 trillion. Electric truck maker $Rivian Automotive (RIVN.US)$'s valuation passed $100 billionon second day of trading. When $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ went public 11 years ago its market value was less than $2 billion, showing just how far ambitions for electric-vehicle companies have come.
