102315873 : You are confusing consumer confidence with investor confidence. Consumers care about whether the product is worth what the company is charging for it. This is almost trivial if the company is throwing limitless subsidies at it's customers as Grab is doing, to the point that every transaction actually loses money for the company. Grab is essentially giving away free money, of course people would be willing to use it.
Investor confidence depends on whether it's makes business sense, and whether it is likely to make money, if not now, then in the future. The abysmal share price performance since IPO should answer the question of whether it has investor confidence.

102315873 Crazy Hsueh : Except that these guys quitting have been instrumental in establishing Grab's financial arm almost since the start. Nothing to suggest they are incompetent or incapable. Not a good sign for those who think the financial arm will lift Grab out of the hole it has dug itself into.

102315873 : I would imagine they neglected to do any serious research before buying the shares, since their train of thought went somewhere along the lines of "everyone I know is using this app, therefore it must be a sure-win company". Add in the hype raging in the tech sector in 2021, and misleading information that Grab itself likes to spread, and you have a bunch of retail investors sitting on huge losses.

Getting people to use your app is easy enough when you have a backer willing to provide you essentially unlimited funds to spend on subsidies and incentives. Getting people to continue using it without these incentives (so the company can actually start making money) is much, much harder.
