According to CPCA, retail sales in the car market reached a daily average of 42,000 units in the third week of May, a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the third week of May 2020, but a relatively weak performance with a 5% decline relative to the third week of May 2019. Commenting on the news that TSMC has increased its production of microcontroller units (MCU) by 60% this year,  CPCA said that car companies and channels will accelerate the shipment of stock chips. Given TSMC's dominant position of huge production capacity, the chip shortage in the second half of the year will be significantly eased.
