Wow, futures took a nosedive. Major stocks are down red during Premarket.
If the US stock market closes red today, it’s a back-to-back losses during the “Santa Claus” rally period which started last Tuesday. We probably haven’t seen something like this for years.

Last Friday, we saw a broad-based sell off as major indexes ended the day in deep red zone.
The sell off was led by the tech sector with the Nasdaq dropping nearly 1.5%.
It seems like there are some profit taking activities going on as we head into 2024.
However, despite Friday’s decline, the market is still on track to another standout year. The S&P 500 is on its way for a gain of around 25% in 2024.

Santa Claus rally took a little pause last Friday as major stocks declined. The losses were led by the Magnificent 7 as all of them closed the day in the red.
However, S&P500 is still up more than 25% this year. Investors are still hopeful for a Santa rally into the new year.

Major indexes and stocks were mixed on Thursday as traders and investors came back from Christmas.
The major indexes flipped between positive and negative territory throughout the day as the market struggled to kickstart the Santa Claus rally period with a bang.
