Singapore has been getting expensive, not just for luxuries but also essentials. Most evident is the price of hawker food as well as mid-range eateries like Ya Kun and Toast Box. I have been putting my idle cash in $Fullerton SGD Cash Fund (SG9999005961.MF)$ and gained returns close to T-bills while maintaining the flexibility to withdraw my money within a couple days. The counters that have performed well in my portfolio are $DBS Group Holdings (D05.SG)$, $OCBC Bank (O39.SG)$ , $Apple (AAPL.US)$ and $Singtel (Z74.SG)$. Reits are still down. The banks have been reaching ATH and so has surprisingly SingTel. Kudos to the current SingTel CEO. I am not selling my bank counters as they are for the long term. Banks will only do better when interest rates come down as loans will go up and dividends will continue to grow.

I don’t shop online as much as I used to in my youth. At that time, e-commerce was not that developed in Singapore but Amazon was already a name to be reckoned with in the US with locals starting threads to share deals during its sales and package forwarding service was fast taking off to feed the burgeoning consumer demand for shopping overseas.
