(Kuala Lumpur, 21st news) Sources revealed that Malaysia Resources $MRCB (1651.MY)$ successfully won the "Ipoh Railway Station Integrated Development Plan" (iRide) project, and will hold a signing ceremony in Ipoh, Perak this Thursday.
It was reported that in September last year, Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook had mentioned that Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) had selected two consortiums to participate in the bidding for the iRide project.
The project adopts a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) model, planning to develop comprehensively on about 70 acres of RAC land behind Ipoh Railway Station, and will be renamed as "Ipoh Sentral".
The development content of the above project includes: affordable housing, hotels, commercial facilities, green spaces, and educational institutions.
According to the financial website TheEdge, insiders said: "When it comes to TOD projects, Assets have always been preferred. They are currently involved in the Penang Central project. With the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) as its main shareholder, and its reliable performance, Assets are always highly favored."
