Why Lump Sum Investing (LSI) Appeals to Me
Putting it all in at once with Lump Sum Investing? On paper, it sounds appealing. By going all in, I’m maximizing my market exposure right away. It means I’m not missing out on any potential gains that might happen if the market keeps going up after I invest. And in the long term, studies show that LSI can often outperform DCA because the longer my money is invested, the m...

It was October 30th, the night before Halloween. I was at my desk, finishing up my market analysis. The room was silent except for the occasional creak of the floorboards. As midnight approached, a notification flashed—a stock alert for a ticker I didn’t recognize: “GR1M.” My system flagged it for “unusually high volume,” though it wasn’t in any sector I traded. Curious, I clicked on it.
The chart showed a peculiar pattern—steep rises and drops, repeating in a heartbeat rhythm. It ...

commission plays a huge part.
traditional brokerage charges min $25 per transaction. so each lump sum share purchase min $5k makes more sense.
but with platform like moomoo each order for $1+k less than $3 (even lower if u newbie or got free commission coupon), dollar cost averaging make sense especially in this volatile market. also now there are more day traders.
with mmf still offering returns of 3%, u can simply just deposit excess funds in it while waiting for the right price.

Dollar cost per average is an indicator for shares and stocks. The lower the DCA, the better because the profit margin will become wider if you bought 100 shares at $3.00 for company A & the next few days you bought the same 100 shares at $1.50 for company A again. The DCA will be $2.25 per share. The next purchase will be 200 shares lower than $1.50 then the DCA will be lower at $1.625 for 400 shares. If the price goes up $10.00 for the 3 months. Your p...

I guess we are talking about a system of investing rather than how to pick stocks.
According to the DCA theory, over time, you will buy more shares when the market drops and fewer when it goes up. So, your average cost per share will be lower in the long run, you see.
For long-term investors, the lump sum theory suggests that when you sell your stock , maybe 20 years later, it will usually be at a higher price, leading to a profit.

One chilly autumn evening, I was walking home through a quiet, dimly lit street. As the wind rustled through the fallen leaves, I heard soft footsteps behind me. I turned around—nothing. I brushed it off as my imagination and continued walking, but the sound returned, closer this time. My heart pounded as I sped up, hoping to reach the end of the street where the lights were brighter. Just as I was about to turn the corner, I felt a cold breath on the back of my neck and ...
