I supposed, when there is an annoucement that the payment kiosks in Giant and Cold Storage will upgrade/improve their accountability and effectiveness to prevent their products from selling less than what are being sold physically. This is to address the problem on their self-service payment kiosks are without the weighing machine to check on the goods being scanned and paid. Looking at Cold Storage, NTUC, Sheng Siong and Giant they are all BIG supermarket players. All these supermarkets are premium ones. However, buying things from these supermarkets, I feel that making payments, at Sheng Siong and NTUC are efficient and effective in collecting the right amount for things people buy like baskets and scanned items are separated. Cold storage self payment kiosk has bugs that it seems like nobody cares. The worker there seems not well trained or not very well learnt to what they are doing or not deligent enough to look for area of inefficiency and improve. Always seems not enough people to assist customer.
