While efforts continue towards an agreement to end the Gaza conflict in Berlin, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced today that she will depart for the Middle East.
According to German Foreign Ministry spokesperson Katrin Deichauer, Minister Baerbock is scheduled to depart for Saudi Arabia tonight and will meet with Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
According to Deichauer, the meeting will focus on the "dramatic situation in the region" and the "continuing attacks on international vessels by the extremist Islamic Houthi militias in Yemen."
Afterwards, Minister Baerbock will travel to Jordan to meet with Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and discuss "particularly the coordination of humanitarian assistance to the people in Gaza."
Afterwards, Minister Barbok will travel to Israel and have a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Katz and Defense Minister Yoab Galant.
"These meetings should focus on the urgent and necessary plan for a humanitarian ceasefire, which should lead to the release of hostages and humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza," said Mr. Deshauer.
Afterwards, Ms. Bearbock will travel to the occupied West Bank of the Jordan River and have a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa of the Palestinian Authority.
