I have revised my long-term investment plan.
One change made to the main products was switching from the Nissay Nasdaq100 Trust to the Total Stock Market ETF. The reason behind this decision was realized through studying a renowned book, that costs and risks should not be taken lightly. Compared to trusts, ETFs inherently have higher costs, with the above-mentioned products showing a significant price difference at 0.2% and 0.03%, making the ETF overwhelmingly cheaper at about 7 times. Since the future exchange rates are uncertain, and the SBI Bank & Securities used have free exchange fees, I found no issues. Additionally, it had to be acknowledged that the Nasdaq100 carries high risk, and even though its high returns were initially prioritized in the plan, I learned that risk should have precedence over returns, leading to an immediate change in approach. Also, the diversification opportunity VTI provides across almost all American stocks brings a substantial sense of security. I realized that having an unbeatable plan in long-term investments is of utmost importance. While I wavered with VOO, I chose VTI for its lower price and ease of purchase.
