Donald Trump's incoming presidential advisory team is in discussions with the digital asset industry regarding whether to establish a new White House post focusing on cryptocurrency policies, as reported by the media.
According to sources familiar with the administration transition, Bloomberg News reported that the team is scrutinizing candidates for such positions.
It is not yet clear whether this position will become a senior staff member at the White House or become the "emperor of virtual currency." The term "emperor of virtual currency" is a Washington DC jargon, referring to the person in charge of supervising the policies and regulations of the entire federal government.
Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that Brian Brooks, a former Coinbase Global Inc Class A (COIN) and Binance US executive who is also a candidate for SEC chairman, met with Mr. Trump, according to sources familiar with the meeting. Bloomberg also reported that Mr. Trump met with Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, earlier this week.
During his election campaign, Mr. Trump emphasized acceptance of virtual currency and pledged to make the USA the "virtual currency capital of the world and a cryptocurrency superpower in space."
