US-based Apple plans to equip the new smartwatch with satellite communication features, according to Bloomberg.

Apple plans to introduce satellite communication features in the new smartwatch to be launched in 2025. Additionally, they are also focusing on developing a feature to monitor blood pressure for the smartwatch. Bloomberg reported on the 10th, citing multiple sources.
The satellite communication feature is expected to be added to the company's upcoming release "Watch Ultra" next year. This will allow users to send messages without needing to connect to a mobile phone or the internet.
Apple introduced satellite communication feature for the first time in 2022 with the "iPhone". They have invested $1.5 billion in the satellite communication provider Globalstar (GSAT.A) to contribute to the expansion of smart phone telecom services.
There is a possibility that a function to monitor users' blood pressure will be implemented in 2025.
The company has not responded to Reuters' request for comments.
Apple is working on expanding health-related functions. In September, they will be able to detect health issues such as sleep apnea and respond to emergencies using the Smart Phone.
