What is the purpose of investing?
On the face of it the answer seems rather obvious – we invest our money in order to make more money.
Some people would say, "the more money is always better." However, it's not always about efficiency and numbers. Investors can sometimes find a sense of fulfillment when they're making investments.
Would you share your investing experiences about when do you feel satisfied?

Asian stocks may get boost from record U.S. close
Asian stocks looked set for a tailwind Tuesday after another all-time high for U.S. shares on optimism that the global recovery can weather risks from the coronavirus and tightening monetary policy.
Equity futures for Japan pointed higher after the $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ notched its 69th record close this year, led by the energy and technology sectors, though volumes were lower than average. U.S. contracts were steady. Hong Kong will reopen after a holiday and Australia remains closed.
Stocks' rally will likely survive the Fed's first hike, Crossmark says
Crossmark Global Investments's Victoria Fernandez said in a Monday interview with Bloomberg Television that historically equity markets continue to rise after a first interest rate hike and don't actually take a hit until after the Fed's second or third increase.
JPMorgan says investors are too bearish, no selloff in sight
"Conditions for a large selloff are not in place right now given already low investor positioning, record buybacks, limited systematic amplifiers, and positive January seasonals," the strategists led by Dubravko Lakos-Bujas wrote in a note to clients. "Investor positioning is too bearish -- the market has taken the hawkish central bank and bearish omicron narratives too far."
It's December 1999 based on the NYSE shares touching new lows
Amid all the celebration of a rousing year-end in stocks, Doug Ramsey has a sobering observation about a situation below the market's surface.
Last week, when the S&P 500 closed at a 52-week high, 334 companies trading on the New York Stock Exchange hit a 52-week low, more than double the amount that marked new one-year highs. That's happened only three other times in history -- all of them in December 1999, according to Ramsey, who is chief investment officer for Leuthold Group.
CDC recommends shorter Covid isolation, quarantine for all
U.S. health officials on Monday cut isolation restrictions for Americans who catch the coronavirus from 10 to five days, and similarly shortened the time that close contacts need to quarantine.
CDC officials said the guidance is in keeping with growing evidence that people with the coronavirus are most infectious in the two days before and three days after symptoms develop. The decision also was driven by a recent surge in Covid-19 cases, propelled by the omicron variant. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the country is about to see a lot of omicron cases.
    The metaverse won Christmas
$Meta Platforms(FB.US)$, Facebook's parent company, had the most popular app in Apple's App Store on Christmas: the Oculus VR app. It's a sign Meta's virtual reality headset was one of the most popular technology gifts over the holidays.
This gives Meta more opportunity to show customers the possibilities of its vision for the metaverse.
Holiday shopping fuels the return of credit card debt
After paying off a record $83 billion in credit card debt in 2020, Americans are on track to end this year back in the red. By the end of the year, Americans are now on track to end up with $70 billion more in credit card debt, according to a projection by personal finance site WalletHub.
Credit card balances are expected to continue to rise in 2022, according to one forecast.
Apple closes stores to customers in New York City due to surge in Covid cases
$Apple(AAPL.US)$ closed its stores in New York City to indoor traffic due to a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases. Customers ordering online aren't restricted from picking up products outside retail locations.
The move, which affects its locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island, isn't a complete shuttering of stores like the company has done in the past to slow the spread of the virus.

U.S. futures rise as traders mull virus, China vow
U.S. equity futures rose Monday and the dollar was steady against major peers as traders weighed spiking coronavirus cases and a weekend pledge from China's central bank of greater economic support.
$S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US)$ and $NASDAQ 100 Index(.NDX.US)$ contracts gained, while those for Japan earlier pointed to a muted start. Crude oil and gold slipped. Bitcoin was trading at about $51,000 after a steady period over Christmas.
Meme madness, 68 new highs: superlatives abound in 26% S&P rally
Superlatives followed one after another in 2021's wild ride for U.S. stock investors. The most all-time highs in 26 years. Triple-digit rallies in some small caps thanks to retail-trader frenzies.
S&P 500's steady march higher has helped push it to a fresh record 68 times this year, the second-most ever, topped only by 1995. Put another way, the S&P managed a record close on nearly 30% of all trading days in 2021.
Holiday sales jump 8.5% as U.S. consumers return to retailers
U.S. holiday sales jumped 8.5% from last year, a report from $MasterCard(MA.US)$ SpendingPulse showed.
Sales surged 47% for apparel, 32% for jewelry and 16% for electronics compared with 2020, with all three categories up at least 20% from their pre-pandemic levels in 2019 as well. Department stores saw a 21% jump from last year and gained 11% from two years ago.
Online shopping surged 11%, according to the report, which tracks retail sales across all payment types. E-commerce now accounts for roughly 21% of all holiday sales.
Omicron drives Christmas weekend flight cancellations above 1,500
U.S. airlines have canceled hundreds of flights over the Christmas holiday weekend, citing an increase in Covid cases among crews. Airlines offered flight crews extra pay to pick up trips.
Carriers have asked the CDC to lower its recommended quarantine period for fully vaccinated staff.
'Bubblicious' used car prices are rising faster than bitcoin, market researcher Jim Bianco warns
Used auto prices are rising faster than bitcoin and other assets, according to market researcher Jim Bianco.
"In the last four months, they've gone up in price more than 20%. Not only is that more than the S&P, but over the last four months that's more than bitcoin itself," he said. "As of December 15, the latest set of data we've got, they're just accelerating higher and higher right now. There's no peak at least as of now."
In hot job market, salaries start to swell for white-collar workers
U.S. professionals toward the end of this year saw their compensation jump at the fastest rate in nearly 20 years, federal data show. Wages for all private-sector workers grew 4.6% year over year in the third quarter, according to federal data, with the biggest gains going to workers in service occupations and industries such as retail and hospitality.
For management, business and financial occupations, wages rose 3.9% in the quarter, slower than overall wage growth but still the fastest pace on record since 2003 for this bucket of workers.
Bill Gates: People's distrust of governments is the most worrying issue into 2022
In a 2019 poll of American adults, 75% of respondents said their fellow citizens' trust in the federal government was shrinking. And about four in ten respondents thought the mistrust made it harder to handle issues like health care, immigration and gun violence.
In Gates' blog post, he noted that 24-hour news cycles, politically incentivized headlines and social media have each played a role in the "growing divide" — and that governments may need regulate online platforms to effectively dispel misinformation.
Temasek-backed Vertex wins nod for SPAC listing in Singapore
Vertex has become the first blank-check company sponsor in Singapore to receive an eligibility-to-list letter from the local exchange.
Vertex Venture plans to invest S$30 million ($22 million) in the SPAC through the subscription of units and intends to contribute up to S$10 million of "at-risk" capital by purchasing warrants in a private placement, the statement said.

Is this the year that digital assets went mainstream? Venture capital funds have poured about $30 billion into crypto, or more than in all previous years combined for the little more than decade-old technology. That's almost quadruple the previous high of around $8 billion in 2018.
As you can see, some firms have bet more on crypto. But is it an ideal choice for every retail investor?
The 5% rule of investing is a general investment philosophy that suggests an investor allocate no more than 5% of their portfolio to one investment security—especially those risky assets like crypto.
Do you agree or disagree with the 5% rule?
Did you put more money into any crypto-currency this year?

The markets opened higher on Monday and almost immediately moved lower. This week could be choppy and traction-less, with a two-day Federal Reserve meeting on deck and a quadruple-witching expiration on Friday.
Check out today's top stock trades:
Top stock trades for today No.1: Ford
$Ford Motor(F.US)$ stock made a major breakout on Friday, rallying almost 10% on the day and closing near the highs. On Monday, it was quite the opposite with shares down nearly 5%.
For now, the stock is stuck below the $20.50 breakout level. I want to see Ford hold above this level.
We saw a dip from the long-term 261.8% extension and for me, that's not too surprising. However, if it can hold above $20.50, I believe bulls will remain in control.
That leaves the $21.25 level in play. Above Friday's high, and the $23 level is on the table. That's the 261.8% extension of the current range.
Top stock trades for today No.2: AMC Entertainment
Meme-land is getting crushed today, with $AMC Entertainment(AMC.US)$ down more than 15% on the day. $GameStop(GME.US)$ didn't fair too well either, falling almost 14% on Monday.
The action in AMC stock is not too surprising. Shares were putting in a series of lower highs over the past few months. Then the $33 to $35 area failed as support, while the 200-day and 10-day moving averages turned to resistance.
Now taking out the recent low, AMC stock is testing down into the monthly VWAP measure. I wouldn't hang a two-week salary on this level holding, but if we get a bounce, see how AMC stock handles the $29 level.
If it continues lower, let's see how that former high near $20 acts. Just a few days ago I said this level could be in play, although it didn't seem like it at the time. Below that could put the 21-month and 50-month moving averages on the table.
Top stock trades for today No.3: GameStop
I'm not much for tooting any horns — particularly my own — but this morning I also noted that GameStop looked vulnerable after last week's close.
Below the third-quarter high now, GME stock is looking to find its footing. If it can reclaim this level, see how it handles $159, which was the prior week's low and the breakdown point in recent trading.
If the mid-$130s doesn't act as support, the 21-month moving average may be up next near $115, followed by a potential test of $100.
Over $159, and GameStop still has its hands full, as a number of moving averages loom overhead.
