robcabob : I have confidence in NIO. The only reason I'm not buying is because of the sad state of global affairs we brought upon ourselves. Now, NIO has been a highly suppressed stock and will pump if this bear market ever ends.
NIO has established healthy growth as shown in their MRQ earnings. Since they missed on eps, I had to look deeper. NIO, like everyone else, is facing challenges. Overall macro conditions affects all reaches, but also not a good phase for the industry. EVs have yet to be fully accepted, and people aren't much for hype right now. Specifically, the last report showed they were hit hard on costs obviously, leading to an unfavorable eps. Considering that the company was gouged on material costs, via batteries and rising costs of lithium + shipping and logistics, I think that's out of their control because it's global issue. Better management wouldn't be able to manage lower costs in these times or in a country that's shutdown. Other costs went into research and development and marketing the new es7. So they have growth, new products, they are reinvesting in their future, all while dealing with sitting at the crossroads of the hardest hit industries i.e. auto & tech. Don't forget misplaced sentiment, misunderstood earnings, and the toughest of economic times on a global scale holding them back. Once this company hits some favorable conditions, I expects to see some great returns.

Use Graham Number Method, find a Fair Value. Study Beta + Charts for Price Action.
Relate that info to current Share Price.
Decide how close (hypothetically, but using a realistic model) the stock could move to the Fair Value.
Find an entry point.
Set Stop-Loss around 5-10% below entry. With previous research you should have an idea on the percentage.
For Target Price, use Risk/Reward Ratio Win Rate. This will give you some perspective on the potential of your capital (you'll most likely be disappointed, but hey, no emotion in this game!) At 3/1, 75% success to break even, that's rock bottom. Usually, I'm like 5/1. An example: Stock bought at $100(entry point). You decide to risk 10 so, set up stop-loss, to get out, if it drops to 90. At 3/1 risk reward, you have 3 times the risked amount, 30, so, $130 is where a limit sell is set. Open position, trail up stop-loss to break even then higher. Dollar-cost-avg out. If not, have a good reason to let it ride because that money is probably better put to work on a new idea.
Don't count on this to make money, wrong attitude. Count on it to learn. It will establish a base of understanding, that can be built upon. A frame of reference that introduces fundamental and technical analysis. After doing this for a while, I had the direction to develop a more sophisticated investment and/or trading strategy.  Follow ticker, industry, macro, etc. news, all along the way, to avoid being blindsided with an event that supersedes the other research and sends the stock to the basement! Btw, all use of "you" and forms of "you" are expressed  in a general sense, meant for a supposition of a receptive subject only, not you!  I mean really, who would listen to me anyway??Happy Hunting.  

robcabob : DYOR! Learn research/methods from others, But when it comes to finding your next idea, Cut off all noise, stock pickers, recommendations, robo-advisers, even analyst ratings! Try to be a deserted island, cut off from civilization! Now, I'm not perfect and I'm exposed to shit daily. What I'm saying is, rely only on yourself and whatever asset you're investing in. All info needed is there in the assets performance and financials. Follow the news, just be skeptical of anyone trying to sell, or push or influence. I definitely don't trust JP Morgan or Bank of America or analysts. They (might) have an agenda and your increasing wealth is probably not a priority bullet point on their task list. When I have a great idea I don't feel inclined to run out to tell a bunch of strangers about it. I mean, I like helping out but going through a whole production just to get my idea to you? A lot of players out there would rather see you get rekt than rich. Believe in your Asset, your Plan, and your Self!
