$Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$ market got destroyed this week... and somehow this still sits above 68k.
remember when 58 was the supposed resistance? good times.
the world looks like it's ending
yet life is long. as the world turns
has anyone done a welfare check on EZ?

Got a bit tired of shorting constantly by the end of the week (unless there's a secret to shorting low volume stocks when upstream matching isn't happening for paper trade I missed ). So I decided to try another thing I'd never do with my actual portfolio and threw a third of it into Amazon pre-earnings. Gamble paid off this time. Good thing earnings based means I can't be tempted to roll the dice a second time.
Hope everyone else is having fun trying out di...

I did pretty well today in paper trading - but it all came down to when I opened the app for the day
It happened to be right when MIRA peaked today and the bulk of my returns (~$2000) came from catching that in time to short it
The rest of the day was largely spent undoing that by building up concentrated positions to gamble on earnings season.
So never feel discouraged if you see the crazy numbers the top folks get! For every person who wins those lotteries, there...

Arrayfunction : I have largely ignored all the press on crypto assets; I just use it to buy things from folks outside the US for convenience.
I had a good understanding of Bitcoin and the philosophy/tech behind it back years ago (e.g seeing the 1000 bitcoins for Papa John's pizza post days).
Something obviously changed while I wasn't looking, anyone mind filling in the gaps? When and why did people deviate from the original purpose of cryptocurrency to have it behave like Fiat, commodities, or collectibles (depending on the coin)?
Is it not completely antithetical to the concept of crypto to keep it on an exchange or buying access to a pool of them in an ETF? That's what confused me about FTX, Celsius, etc. The intent was for people to keep their coins in a ledger or cold wallet right?
A wallet doesn't protect against price drops, sure. But why would that lead people to take something intentionally designed to be insulated from bank runs, embezzlement by staff, government/court intervention.....and proceed to use it the same way you'd use cash at a bank?
