Arrayfunction : Interesting point! Can't tell where your data is from - do you know if it includes bio-tech as healthcare? Those are always going to have high bankruptcy rates with 80-90% of drug candidates failing historically.
I tried looking up past data to see if the trend was consistent and it seems to be. I gave up on trying to find plots after the first couple years so full disclosure the rest came from Chat GPT
I wasn't sure how to figure out what role small bio-techs had, but they also have seen increasing bankruptcy.

Arrayfunction OP : Unfortunate Update: On July 20 2024, Moomoo staff decided (for unclear reasons) to escalate what had been me voluntarily leaving the platform while helping others avoid repeating my mistake to a (albeit brief) attempt at retaliation / extortion.
TL;DR: Moomoo tried to implement cold call debt collection company tactics, including harassment and an implied threat to refuse to allow withdrawal of legally settled cash. Be even more careful.
I will include confirmatory screenshots below. I live in a US state where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in written correspondence and permission from all parties is not necessary prior to making records. The law may differ wherever Moomoo operates out of and it's not worth the legal hassle if they are removed.
I have not had any personal communication with Moomoo since July 15th 2024 until they made repeated phone calls to me with a VOIP number spoofed to be coming from New Hampshire of all places. I thought it was a simple spam call (as my phone correctly labeled it) but the number immediately called back after rejecting the call. After rejecting the 2nd call, I received an SMS from a number used by Moomoo prior opening with
"Hello! This is moomoo, your stock trading platform. We have been attempting to contact you regarding your withdrawal earlier today. May we proceed with this text message?"
If Moomoo Lily had done as stated, they would have known my account is banned from opening new position
It was at that point I realized they were most likely leaving a veiled threat to seize my funds through claiming the transfer can't be completed successfully. These are all tactics debt collectors use in the US.
I left an open invitation to discuss in written correspondence via SMS or Email. Conversation ceased and the transfer went through.

Animal rescue is one of those areas that it's so easy for someone to say is important, but so few appreciate how much hard work and personal sacrifice it actually takes to pull off! You must have some crazy work ethic
I have a Marshall lab beagle I adopted when he was about 1.5 years old (he had lived only in the lab prior) and a cat I took in during the winter a few years back (a former pet, not feral, whose owners on the microchip never called back :( ) and I wouldn't be able to handle more responsibility than that if I am honest.

Arrayfunction : I think this industry has huge potential; but friendly reminder to folks to use more caution with companies relying on *only* cannabinoids or other psychedelic drug candidates!
Before making a major investment, I highly recommend someone read up on the extra challenges those face in development compared to your standard small-biotech in the country they are working out of. My personal rule of thumb is to double the amount of time you'd except before hitting market.
In the US, trying to do research on anything with or derived from a schedule I classification is an absolute nightmare. Even at the pre-clinical animal level, the red tape explodes exponentially. The overhead  as well as time to completion on every project will balloon due to needing to have the DEA oversight on every step, less choice when it comes to supply chains and needing to take on higher interest rates for company debt.  
Additional liquidity becomes harder too as a good number of grants can't be used for Schedule I research, investors need to balance the bad press risk, and banks are still largely in agreement not to touch Schedule I projecta or products (e.g. why legal dispensaries are almost always cash-based, no banks will take their deposits)
If you are looking for a short swing gain, you are probably okay thinking about the same as small bio-tech since that is going to be more hypetrain than facts. But dangerous to ignore if you are trying to take a long position

Arrayfunction : Things sure got shaken up with Microsoft having to back off of OpenAI! Probably a lot of the near future will play out based on which company is allowed to make use of OpenAI 's machine learning without raising anti-trust concerns
