Major chip maker AMD announced its third-quarter earnings, which exceeded analysts' financial estimates, but the revenue guidance for the fourth quarter fell below market expectations.
AMD's financial results for the quarter ending in September showed an adjusted earnings per share of 70 cents, exceeding the expected 68 cents, with revenue reaching $5.8 billion, a 4% increase compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, AMD expects revenue for the fourth quarter to be around $6.1 billion, while analysts had expected $6.37 billion.
Initially, AMD's stock price fell by about 4% in after-hours trading, but rebounded after the company raised its outlook for the artificial intelligence chip business.
There is a possibility of 2 billion dollars.
AMD is one of the few chip makers that can manufacture GPUs, a market currently dominated by nvidia. GPUs are mainly used for training and deploying ai models, with the AI boom driving the GPU market this year.
In the third quarter, the revenue of AMD's datacenter division, including server processor CPUs and ai chip GPUs, was 1.6 billion dollars, unchanged from the same period last year. AMD is expecting strong growth in the datacenter business in the fourth quarter....
