Oil prices slumped on Mon as surging cases of Omicron variant in Europe and U.S. stoked investor worries that new restrictions to combat its spread could dent fuel demand. Brent crude futures fell 2.7% to settled at USD71.52. It sank below US70 to an intra-day low of USD69.28.
The Netherlands went into lockdown on Sun and the possibility of more restrictions being imposed ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays loomed over several European countries.
