jink8181 : I guess a few reasons: 1) the investors believe FED will reconsider increasing a significant rate hike (ie still there will be one but not 0.5%), 2) “buy the invasion” (the investors) believe the market is hitting the bottom, or 3) mere short squeeze. I personally believe this is just a technical rebound and the fundamental of current market is still bearish. After all, you have make your own investment decision.
jink8181 Fat Veg 7890 : Your understanding is correct that this ETF moves against S&P. However, based on my experience this has nothing to do with VIX (volatility index) but rather supply and demand of its own with S&P index as underlying index (of course ounter measure as you mentioned). Hope this helps.
jink8181 Fat Veg 7890 : Yes and no. Usually when S&P drops and yes UXVY will be up, however, seldom when S&P drops UXVY goes the same direction. So my conclusion is its supply and demand of its own.
jink8181 Fat Veg 7890 : I always start buying UVXY with small money. For example, last Friday when the market recovered, I bought bit of UVXY which account15% of my available cash. If goes up then I get some returns if it goes down then I still have 85% available cash to buy. I hardly all-in but buy bit by bit. You should keep your eyes on it especially situations like this (lots of volatility) :) all the best!
jink8181 Fat Veg 7890 : As mentioned its your decision but for me, I bought small portion of UVXY (ie 15% of available cash) last Friday (probably when people believes there is limited downside risk) as there is an opportunity that the market could go down given the situation.
