Sometimes it is easier than said, the emotions or non logical portion of you that takes over. Trying to refrain from those negatives. Trading in stocks, is like making an investment planning. For me, it is part of long term planning. Plan and diversify your investment (several baskets, not confine to stocks) so that you do not get affected too much. Do progressive buy in batches or selling(cash out when need) to maintain.

During my earlier years when startes experimenting with stocks, I did set a loss and profit cut off at around 10% of the base. But as i aged with experience and focusing on buying good companies (blue chips, S&P), i review the losses as paper loss/interim losses.
Companies with good financial grounds and established markets, we all know that in long term, it will gain and profit. This is like placing our money in banks, we will generate gains for us (dividends). Based on past...

I would say investing is like "choosing the right school (company) for my kids (capital) to go to", looking at the school (company) foundation/history, what the school (company) excel in, the school (company) environment/vision, etc. Selecting a good school (company), reviewing their performances, annual reports, growth, dividend payout, vision.
It is definitely an investment to me. As a responsible parent (investor), am not sending my kids (capital) to any school (compan...

Did a couple of buy-in when the tech stocks are down. i.e. MSFT, CRM, NVDA, etc. Also, the opportunity to average out the prices when these are bought in tranches. No one has a crystal ball, it is more of spreading and diversification of stock holdings.
Companies with strong foundations, i.e. PE, PEG, PB, will be able to ride the wave and maybe storm. As long term for good companies, will be a uptrend.

Placing your investments in fundamentally strong companies that you need not to worry about the fluctuations or sleepless nights, as that will grow your "cashcow". Especially, for companies with good provision of dividends annually. Everyone knows that there are some good companies that withstand the test of time, and continue to grow. For me, it is a matter of entering at a right opportunity for these companies, given finite resources, to maximise the long term gains and holdings.
Keeping at least 25-30% of portfolio for long-term investment.
Good luck to all!
