In the first quarter of 2024, US stocks showed strong performance, the best opening performance in five years, and achieved growth of more than 10% for two consecutive quarters. During this period, the giants in the tech industry showed mixed performances. Tesla experienced a drop of nearly 30% in the first quarter, while Nvidia bucked the trend and increased by more than 80%. Apple's stock price fell by more than 10% during the same period, while Meta's stock price surged by nearly 40%. On the other hand, the AI concept stock Palantir fell by more than 6% due to its rating being downgraded to sale, while Trump Media, which had just recently gone public, also experienced a decline of more than 6%.
Globally, the European stock market also showed a positive trend. The pan-European stock index and the German and French stock indexes hit record highs for five consecutive months, and rose for two consecutive quarters.
In the bond market, the governor of the Federal Reserve sent an eagle signal, causing the yield on ten-year US bonds to break away from a two-week low and rise by more than 30 basis points in the first quarter.
In the money market, although the US PCE inflation data showed signs of cooling, causing the US dollar index to fall, the US dollar maintained a steady monthly upward trend during the year, with a total increase of more than 3% in the first quarter. Although Bitcoin fell below the 70,000 US dollar mark in the last week, it achieved an increase of more than 10% throughout March, and the increase in the first quarter was more than 60%, an increase of more than 20,000 US dollars.
The Chinese market also showed a rebound trend on Friday, and the Shanghai Index extended its increase to 1% at the end of the session. Meanwhile, the offshore renminbi is rising in the intraday...
