$NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ $Intel (INTC.US)$ $Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3x Shares ETF (SOXL.US)$ Nvidia is a growth darling whose stock has sold off as risk appetite has evaporated, and Intel is a US industrial stalwart with material execution issues.
For different reasons, we see the long-term future as bullish for both names, but find reasons for caution in June.
We own both stocks in staff personal long-term accounts.

I’m a long term investor so these are just some of the lessons I’ve learnt from my limited experience with day trading. I will also give a brief overview of the VWAP indicator which is often used by day traders.
Lessons Learnt
1) Trade when the mind is clear and alert
Do not trade when you’re feeling sleepy, tired, unwell or troubled. This is especially true when trading in a foreign market with time zone differences. Day trading requires snap decisions and you can’t make those decisions if you are feeling poorly.
2) Play small
Limit the amount invested to a small percentage of your capital so it wouldn’t hurt if it is lost entirely. This is important as there is no such thing as a hundred percent success rate.
3) Plan your entry and exit
Set target profit and stop loss when entering a trade. This helps you to know when to exit. Do not hesitate or second guess yourself. Capital preservation is important.
4) A good knowledge of technical indicators is required
This enables one to spot and interpret the signals. Using a number of technical indicators helps to confirm the signal and improve the probability of wins.
VWAP Indicator
VWAP stands for volume-weighted average price. It is basically the average trading price of a stock after taking into account the volume. The formula is VWAP = number of shares x typical price divided by the total number of shares. Since VWAP is calculated from previous prices, there will be a lag which becomes bigger throughout the day. VWAP is reset each day.
How to view VWAP in Moomoo:
In Detailed Quotes, click on Chart Settings > Indicators > VWAP.
Make sure VWAP is checked. You can modify the colour if you wish.
Once this is done, return to the chart. You can click VWAP at the bottom of the chart (portrait mode) or on the right hand side of the chart (landscape mode). In the pictures below, VWAP is the yellow line.
How To Use VWAP Indicator
A rising VWAP shows that buyers have more control, a declining VWAP shows that sellers have more control and a flat VWAP means the stock is trading within a range. When the price is above VWAP, it is in the overbought zone and when the price is below VWAP, it is in the oversold zone.
VWAP can be used to establish support and resistance price levels. In general, traders try to trade close to VWAP in anticipation of a bounce off (long) or a decline (short). Institutional investors use VWAP as a benchmark when planning their entries and exits to minimise their effect on the market price. So do companies when they do share buybacks e.g. $Apple (AAPL.US)$ .
It is a good idea to use VWAP in conjunction with other technical indicators such as MACD, RSI and Stochastic to confirm the signal before executing a trade. Use a paper account to practise and test out your strategies before risking any real money.

As the 3rd quarter of 2021 has come to an end, I wish to use this opportunity to re-visit my investment fundamentals.
No. 1: Cash is King
No. 2: Debt is bad
No. 3: A clear understanding of Time Horizon is key
My time horizon dictates how much risk can prudently be taken within my portfolio. It also keeps rough market conditions in perspective. It’s irresponsible to invest without having a clear understanding of when I need to use the money.
No. 4: Dollar-cost averaging keeps my emotions in check
DCA is the process of routinely adding money to investments at regular intervals. The benefit of setting up automated, routine contributions to my investment accounts is that it helps eliminate emotions from my process. It eliminates the desire to time the market, and it also increases my ability to build wealth over time.
No. 5: Re-balancing allows me to make money without much effort
The act of re-balancing is when I try to adjust the weightings of my portfolio as investment values go up and down to maintain their original asset allocation based on risk tolerance. Re-balancing allows me to sell the positions that went up in value, while simultaneously adding to the positions that went down.
No. 6: Diversification is the only free lunch in investing
There is a tendency for me to find, and pile into, “the hot investment”. This is great while things are going well, but all companies, sectors and industries go through cycles.
The best way to protect my portfolio from this risk of over-concentration in one market segment is to have a policy of diversifying across many asset classes.
No. 7: Conservative bonds
When the market is soaring, many investors won’t even look at high-quality fixed income. They serve as a cushion that allows investors to withdraw funds from assets that didn’t plummet in value during a market correction. Lastly, there are rebalancing opportunities when stocks fall in price and the highest-rated bonds appreciate. I wish to add conservative bonds in Q4 as a core element of my investment strategy.
No. 8: High returns = a high level of risk
When the economic conditions turn, I soon realize that high expected returns could mean a higher level of risk. The bottom line is if I want to potentially achieve high returns, I need to be willing to take a high level of risk. It’s important for me to go into every opportunity with both my eyes wide open.
No. 9: Boring over exciting could be the right approach
I often confuse an exciting idea with a good investment opportunity. Excitement may be generated from the latest fad or an exclusive deal. These “opportunities” are, more often than not, being sold on the hype and not on their fundamentals.
If I want to avoid being lured into one of these situations, then I need to pursue an approach of sticking with plain vanilla - boring investments. This may be a combination of blue-chip stocks, index funds or high-grade bonds.
No. 10: Once I win the game, stop playing
The stock market can be addictive, especially if one have accumulated a substantial level of wealth. It’s important to understand that the main purpose of investing is for one to be able to achieve our financial goals. Once I reach that magic number, there is no reason to continue to put that money at risk.
The silver lining of a severe market downturn is that it causes me to reflect on the decisions I’ve made during the good times. However, if I stay true to the principles, it should increase my chances of success in the long run.

Weekly market recap
For the week, $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$was up 1.57%; the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$is headed for a weekly rise of 0.78%, while the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$is looking at a weekly gain of 1.11%.
The Labor Department Friday showed the U.S. economy added 943,000 jobs in July. Economists expected 845,000 new jobs last month, according to Dow Jones estimates. The unemployment rate dropped to 5.4%, below the expectation of 5.7%.
"You saw a lot more jobs being created in those areas that are reopening — restaurants, hotels, logistics, transportation," Raymond James Chief Investment Officer Larry Adam said. "That's a good sign. I think that puts more spending power behind the consumer going forward and I think that that’s ultimately a good thing for the economy."

Columns What is blockchain?
To understand cryptocurrency, there is one concept that you couldn’t avoid ---blockchain
The simplest way of explanation, blockchain is a specific type of database.
A traditional database runs in a centralized organizing way that requires an administrator to manage and maintain all of the info. Blockchain orient its data in a decentralized way that requires no individual to manage. It simply structures all data into blocks that are all chained together in chronological order. When a block is filled, it would become immutable and formed as a part of its timeline. Each block would be given an auto-generated hash code as it becomes chained.
