6. They're already second to market with self driving, and the Tesla system is handicapped by using nothing but cameras for input. No lidar, no radar, nothing cut cameras
7. Their future designs are impractical and won't really be built (I mean a BUS with no ground clearance and enclosed wheel wells, what were they thinking)
8. The robot "Optimus" is not even at the level of sophistication where the public should have even seen one. It's embarrassing. Boston Dynamics' Atlas is doing backflips carrying a tool bag, and Optimus is shuffling along like he's a patient in a nursing home.
9. Even if Tesla's Full Self Driving IA" actually worked, which it doesn't, it's extremely narrow, and the research and technology wouldn't be applicable to literally any other use case, except for driving.

Nisdey OP broke ask : with the benefit of hindsight, unfortunately all the HODLing in the world wouldn't have been worth it.
It's not yet recovered those losses, and I would have had a boatload of capital tied up in something that to this day has continued to depreciate. I did the grown up thing and cut my losses, then stayed the fu*k away from this stupid stock and anything related to it.
Instead I bought shares in a hard drive manufacturer that people mistook for a quantum computing outfit and doubled my money in 2 days.

Nisdey OP Jaguar8 : Thanks for that info. Sounds like just the kind of weird coincidence that flies these days. Notice how none of the finance press picked up on this, and just added it to the "quantum computing" "thematic investing" portfolio.

Nisdey OP Jaguar8 : Sure, I put a bit into all the Quantum* stocks, just because of the momentum, and I do regret not buying more, however this whole thing just feels like an asset bubble for the sake of one.
If this company, which released some software that happens to work with nVIDIA's non-quantum GPUs has been pumped by the hype (which unlike AI hasn't yielded any meaningfully disruptive technologies, and may yet fail to do so) it makes it painfully obvious that nobody has the faintest clue whether or not any of these companies who's name starts with a Q are actually worth anything.
But it also begs the question, where is all the fu*king capital coming from. It's gotta just be that these companies were worth next to nothing to begin with, so the inflow is like 1% of nVIDIA's daily change. But more disturbing would be if it's because of some asinine premise like "quantum computers will break crypto", which is just factually incorrect.
Sure these things could probably help cure cancer, but the fact that they also break encryption and pose massive cybersecurity threats makes them far more useful as an unregulated digital nuclear bomb, that's going to wind up being stumbled upon by some company with the same level of corporate governance as FTX.
That's hardly something to be celebrating.

I agree that the debt ceiling is a pointless concept, since it's not really a ceiling, just an arbitrary number that needs a law passed to increase. All it does is create controversy and cause government shutdowns while people pontificate about how much the debt the country is in, and politicians use it as an opportunity to wangle concessions out of whoever is in government at the time.
BUT it certainly [redacted] the bond market, and reignited concerns over inflation. So yeah. That's the reason.
And right after the Fed were all "hawkish" over interest rates.
Hawkish, why do we still use that antiquated word, and only ever in the context of interest rates.
I know what it means, but for some reason, it's also a valid way of saying that something "has a physical appearance reminiscent of a hawk".
But isn't that valid with all words, so anything can be blankish. Yet nobody says retangleish, or oblongular for that matter.
