The United States has initiated a security review of Tencent's $1.3 billion acquisition deal for Sumo.
According to Reuters, the US National Security Council is investigating Tencent's acquisition of the UK gaming company Sumo Group to ensure it does not harm US national security. Sumo, which has studios in the US and four other countries, stated that Tencent has agreed to provide relevant documents to obtain CFIUS approval. Tencent announced in July that it would increase its shareholding in Sumo Group. Sumo stated that they are in contact with CFIUS to obtain approval by the end of this year.
