Umami66 : BDO won't take on something and quit midway. They are taking on a customer that EY dropped to prove something. At this point, the gain or loss in reputation far outweighs the "little money" they stand to make off this single transaction.
They can modify and file however they like because this is the first(late) submission. As long the single final submission is accurate, SEC will not care about their 99 revisions in the office.

Umami66 SYHs : indeed.. EY's pull out was mostly due avoiding liability and consequential losses for auditing delays when SMCI could not get their finances out in time.. it has nothing to do with EYs capability nor SMCIs compliance..

Umami66 SYHs : I've read it. Essentially, SMCI submitted financial documents to EY at the eleventh hour.
If EY is unable to rectify it in time, before the compliance submission deadline, SMCI can then claim losses stating EYs delays.
Basically, some teams work faster than others.. EY has too many red tapes and when considered, they will not make it in time for submission. EY had to announce their exit to protect themselves against liabilities.

Umami66 OP Li m00m00 : You are right when it applies to smaller customers, but not when it's a large customer or when there is risk involved. The compliance and risk dept. will have done a full assessment(chargeable as a prerequisite) before taking on such a large customer.
