A while ago, I took on the Ice Bath Challenge.
Since that day, regardless of whether it was rainy or how early I woke up, I only took cold showers. I kept up this habit for about a month.
After my friend found out, they said to me, 'Isn't this too inhumane?' After hearing that, I couldn't help but wonder, what makes it inhumane?
What is human nature? And what does it mean to go against human nature?
Regarding human nature, it is about seeking benefits and avoiding harm.
It's instinctual to resist the bad and pursue the good, things that make us comfortable.
For example: People generally prefer taking hot showers on cold days because it's comfortable.
However, I just happen to like washing cold water.
Why do I have to do that?
Because I know there are many benefits of washing cold water, such as strengthening the immune system, increasing willpower, and so on.
So I restrain my own nature in order to achieve a healthier body, mind, and spirit.
You may ask, why not go along with human nature? Because I know if I follow human nature, I will never succeed.
In fact, even now I still feel cold when showering with cold water, but I know if I give up, I will not achieve my goal.
I think being against human nature means restraining your instincts, going against what you don't feel like doing, and insisting on doing it.
When your mind tells you not to shower with cold water, if you persist in doing so, you will find that you have surpassed yourself, reaching an unprecedented level in both physiology and psychology.
