FAQ: How to place a Buy or Sell Order?
***Max qty to buy (cash) does not show the amount of funds you have but the max number of shares that can be purchased with your cash at the price input in the order form.
For example, if you have $2000 cash and the stock price is $2, you can only buy slightly fewer than 1000 shares after factoring in commission/platform/GST/regulatory fees and the fact that the lot size is in multiple of 100 for SGX-listed stocks.

toomanyscammers : May I ask what does margin acct mean?
Dadacai OP toomanyscammers : Hi, the account you open with Futu is a margin account. Except for Singapore stocks, you have access to margin (borrow money from the brokerage to trade) subject to minimum maintenance margin. https://support.futusg.com/en-us/category11025/h5
Dadacai OP : The risk with using margin is you can lose more than what you put in. If you do not wish to trade using margin, just buy with the cash you have in your account. When you place a trade, there will be indicators as to how many units you can buy on cash and on margin.
toomanyscammers Dadacai OP : Mmm so for eg, the aapl share if sold, will be to our margin accounts?
Dadacai OP toomanyscammers : It will appear in the US margin account.
toomanyscammers Dadacai OP : Mmm yes I read fr the link u provided above that margin can have a x2 leverage rate for example. But what I wanna clear up is that hmmm....if we transfer cash btw sgd and usd accts, isn’t it considered cash? As in since u said Futu accounts are margin accts. Sorry for asking, still getting familiar with these =)
toomanyscammers : Does it mean we don’t need any brokerage firm to help sell off our stocks already and can just use Futu for this purpose? The fees would be the platform and commission charges yes?
toomanyscammers : Good day night to you too!
Dadacai OP toomanyscammers : Currency exchange moves your cash from one market account to another. Margin is activated only if you buy above the amount of cash you have in the account for that market. Eg, when buying US stocks, it will deduct from USD in the US account and not the SGD in the SG account.
toomanyscammers : Understand. So the fees are those listed like Platform, commission and settlement yes? By the way, thx again for responding to our qns always. Must not be easy being so active here
