Apple Car production might take longer than expected
$苹果 (AAPL.US)$ Ming-Chi Kuo thinks that Apple's progress on the "Apple Car" seems to have slowed down. He believes that without a major acquisition strategy in the automotive sector, Apple might face challenges in producing the car for the masses in the near future.
While there were rumors that the Apple Car will be tested in 2025 and reach customers by 2026, the lack of updates in 2023 makes this timeline questionable. Apple's focus lately has been on the Vision Pro headset. The last significant news about the Apple Car was in March 2023, hinting at enhanced self-driving capabilities and expanded testing. However, there has not been much progress since then.
Last year, reports emerged that Apple had taken a step back on its big plans for the car. Originally, they wanted a vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, but have since decided that such a concept isn't currently viable. The revised plan suggests the car will have assisted driving features, especially for highways, but won't be completely autonomous.
Here’s another uncertainty - Apple hasn't secured a manufacturing partner for the car. Given these developments, it seems we might have to wait a bit longer before seeing an Apple-branded car on the roads.
