In 2022, I hope to keep investing, and diversify my holdings. It's currently too heavily weighted in tech and comms services, and I hope to add some quality energy and staples stocks before the end of the year! Here's to a great year ahead! ![]()
I have a few losing positions that I'm still holding onto, mainly because I hold a long-term perspective when investing and I still believe in the prospects of these companies in the years to come. Two of them are $蔚来(NIO.US$ and $Skillz(SKLZ.US$. Both are down for different reasons, but I hope I won't need to wait too long before these turn from red to green ![]()

Personally, I do not believe in setting stop losses, because when I invest in a company, I'm buying it for the long haul most of the time. This means that I do not intend to sell the stock unless my original thesis for buying it in the first place changes. When investing for the long term, it's more important to do research and select the right companies, rather than relying on stop losses.
When deciding when to buy, I tend to look for companies with sound fundamentals (strong competitive moat, pricing power, solid balance sheet) that investors have overreacted to after 1 bad quarter. These companies tend to revert to the mean on the long term, as long as I give it sufficient time.
As for selling, I tend to sell if my investi6thesis about a company has changed over time, such as decreasing ability to become profitable, inability to innovate with the times, overuse of debt to finance growth.
