This was a wild Q3, with lots of news around the world affecting the global markets. The Evergrande crisis, updates from the Fed about inflation and tapering, crypto shutdowns and more! Inevitably, our portfolios are all going to be affected somehow. Not to mention that September is, historically, the worst month for the stock market.
My positions in Chinese stocks have all taken a hit, mainly $蔚来 (NIO.US)$ , $向上融科 (TIGR.US)$ , $富途控股 (FUTU.US)$, $贝壳 (BEKE.US)$ and $阿里巴巴 (BABA.US)$ . I am choosing to hold because I believe in these companies' financials and prospects. Hopefully I am right. I have opted to sell puts during this period of volatility for these stocks.
My safer positions, like $苹果 (AAPL.US)$ , $特斯拉 (TSLA.US)$ and $SPDR 标普500指数ETF (SPY.US)$ have been doing decently, and I plan to add more on dips as I usually do.
My riskier plays like $箩筐技术 (LKCO.US)$ have gone to dust as of now (thankfully I sold at the huge bounce at $1.80, may go back in at $1). During such market climate, I think I'll stay away from the riskier stocks at the moment.
Overall, Q3 could've gone worse! But it definitely wasn't anything to celebrate about. Let's hope that things will look brighter as we move into Q4!
