Insiders were net sellers of Stagwell Inc.'s (NASDAQ:STGW ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders sold more stock than they bought.

s(纳斯达克股票代码:STGW)在过去的一年中的股票。

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Stagwell

Stagwell

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Chairman & CEO Mark Penn for US$53k worth of shares, at about US$5.28 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$6.48), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Stagwell insiders own 1.7% of the company, worth about US$29m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Do The Stagwell Insider Transactions Indicate?

It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded Stagwell shares in the last quarter. But insiders have shown more of an appetite for the stock, over the last year. Overall we don't see anything to make us think Stagwell insiders are doubting the company, and they do own shares. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. For example, Stagwell has 2 warning signs (and 1 which doesn't sit too well with us) we think you should know about.
