Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk said on Thursday that the company will start deploying its full self-driving (FSD) driver assistance technology on its Cybertruck vehicles with version 12.5 of the software, while not providing a timeline for deploying the new version.

Tesla's Cybertruck is the company's latest offering which it started delivering to customers in late November. The vehicle is not equipped with the company's FSD technology as of now.

Musk said in May that the company would focus on improving FSD on a majority of its fleet before considering rolling it out on Cybertruck. FSD on Cybertruk, he then said, is a 'few months' away until version 12.5 of the technology.

Why It Matters: In late December, Musk said that the Cybertruck is the lowest priority for FSD software given its limited number of roads. There are about 5 million other Tesla cars on the road as compared to several hundred Cybertrucks, he said, dampening hopes of the software being implemented any time soon on the electric truck.
