Senior Vice President of Corporate Development Daniel Raskas Sold A Bunch Of Shares In Danaher

Some Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Daniel Raskas, recently sold a substantial US$3.9m worth of stock at a price of US$271 per share. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 38%, which is notable but not too bad.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Danaher

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CFO & Executive VP, Matthew McGrew, sold US$5.4m worth of shares at a price of US$253 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$274, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 36% of Matthew McGrew's holding.

Insider Ownership Of Danaher

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Danaher insiders own about US$22b worth of shares (which is 11% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

So What Do The Danaher Insider Transactions Indicate?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Looking to the last twelve months, our data doesn't show any insider buying. While insiders do own a lot of shares in the company (which is good), our analysis of their transactions doesn't make us feel confident about the company. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. While conducting our analysis, we found that Danaher has 1 warning sign and it would be unwise to ignore it.
