Nio users drove 3.36 million kilometers in urban areas using its smart driving features in July, up 93.1 percent from June.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) has released user mileage figures for its smart driving features in July, demonstrating how they have performed.

Nio users drove nearly 120 million kilometers with smart driving in July, including 87.5 million kilometers with pilot assistance, which accounted for 73.2 percent of the total smart driving mileage, the electric vehicle (EV) maker said in a report yesterday.

Users drove 3.36 million kilometers using smart driving features in urban areas in July, up 93.1 percent from June, according to the company.

Nio's definition of smart driving mileage refers to the distance drivers travel when LCC (Lane Centering Control), NOP (Navigate on Pilot), or NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus) is turned on.

Its pilot assistance features include NOP for NT 1.0-platform vehicles and NOP+ for NT 2.0-platform models. NOP enables pilot assistance on highways, while NOP+ adds additional support for urban roads.

Nio rolled out NOP in September 2020, and in December 2022 launched the more powerful NOP+ with LiDAR and large computing power support.

Nio added 20,498 new smart driving users in July, bringing the total number of users to 557,518, it said in the report yesterday.

At the end of July, NOP+ had 308,016 users, according to the company.

Nio delivered 20,498 vehicles in July, bringing the total deliveries to 557,518. The NOP+ user count is the cumulative number of deliveries of its models on the NT 2.0 platform.

The company's smart driving vehicle-cloud computing power added 19.86 EOPS in July, bringing the total to 306.9 EOPS, Nio said, adding that it is the largest vehicle-cloud computing power cluster in China. 1 EOPS equals 1,024 TOPS.

Nio added 51.1 million kilometers of smart driving urban area validation in July, bringing the total validation mileage to 420 million kilometers, according to the company.

As of now, the available road mileage is 3.899 million kilometers, of which the total available road mileage in urban areas is 3.539 million kilometers.

As of the end of July, a total of 282 Nio battery swap stations were enabled with the Power Swap on Pilot (PSP) feature, accounting for 34 percent of the number of stations located along highways, according to the company.

The PSP feature, which allows users to automatically navigate to a station and automatically swap to get a fully charged battery while using the smart driving feature, provided 5,903 services in July, up 32.1 percent from June.

Nio's new AEB (automatic emergency braking) feature, based on an end-to-end architecture, covered more hazardous scenarios in July, it said.

The company's active safety systems averted a total of 95,442 potential accidents in July, of which AEB was triggered a total of 94,515 times, up 41.6 percent from June, Nio said.

Nio began rolling out the Banyan 2.6.5 CN system for vehicles based on the NT 2.0 technology platform on July 11, bringing with it AEB feature optimized using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
