Negotiations With the TCRC

August 6, 2024 — On Monday, August 5, CN met with the Minister of Labour, Steven MacKinnon and Minister of Transport, Pablo Rodriguez to discuss the impact of a work stoppage on Canadian supply chains. CN reiterated the desire to reach a negotiated outcome that is good for employees, for the Company, and for its customers, and reinforced that we have made many offers to the Union since bargaining started at the end of November 2023.

Negotiations have been on hold since former Minister of Labour Seamus O'Regan, requested clarity from the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) regarding essential services during a work stoppage. The response from the CIRB is expected by August 9.

Since the beginning of negotiations, CN's goal has always been and continues to be to negotiate in good faith with the Union to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that maintains safety and stability for its team, customers, and North American supply chains. CN has made multiple offers to the TCRC that we believe address employee issues.

We also believe that a negotiated outcome is best for all involved and are eager to get back to the bargaining table. CN appreciated the government's presence at Monday's meeting and we look forward to resuming negotiations with the TCRC on Wednesday, August 7.
