Selling Linklogis Shares at a Lower Price Than Current Market Value May Have Been a Costly Mistake for Insiders
Selling Linklogis Shares at a Lower Price Than Current Market Value May Have Been a Costly Mistake for Insiders
Even though Linklogis Inc. (HKG:9959) has fallen by 16% over the past week , insiders who sold CN¥14m worth of stock over the past year have had less luck. Given that the average selling price of CN¥1.63 is still lower than the current share price, insiders would probably have been better off keeping their shares.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.
Linklogis Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Linklogis
The insider, Lijun Lin, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for HK$7.2m worth of shares at a price of HK$1.75 each. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is HK$1.13. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels. Lijun Lin was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.
Lijun Lin ditched 8.47m shares over the year. The average price per share was CN¥1.63. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership Of Linklogis
Linklogis
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Linklogis insiders own about HK$622m worth of shares. That equates to 28% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
