Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Terex
Don't Ignore The Insider Selling In Terex
Some Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the President of Terex Materials Processing, Kieran Hegarty, recently sold a substantial US$1.1m worth of stock at a price of US$58.43 per share. However, that sale only accounted for 9.0% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.
Terex Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, John Garrison, for US$4.5m worth of shares, at about US$61.74 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$55.73). So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.
Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid US$3.2m for 62.21k shares. But they sold 265.54k shares for US$16m. In total, Terex insiders sold more than they bought over the last year. Does Terex Boast High Insider Ownership?
Terex
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Terex insiders own 2.6% of the company, worth about US$96m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
