Alight Independent Chairman of the Board William Foley Sells 40% Of Holding
Alight Independent Chairman of the Board William Foley Sells 40% Of Holding
We wouldn't blame Alight, Inc. (NYSE:ALIT) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that William Foley, the Independent Chairman of the Board recently netted about US$41m selling shares at an average price of US$8.25. That sale reduced their total holding by 40% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Alight
In fact, the recent sale by William Foley was the biggest sale of Alight shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$7.73. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Insider Ownership Of Alight
Alight
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Alight insiders own 5.4% of the company, worth about US$226m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
