From what we can see, insiders were net sellers in Archrock, Inc.'s (NYSE:AROC ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders sold the stock in greater numbers than they purchased it.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Archrock Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by is the biggest insider purchase of Archrock shares that we've seen in the last year. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$25.24. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Does Archrock Boast High Insider Ownership?

Archrock

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Archrock insiders own about US$301m worth of shares (which is 6.8% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Archrock Insiders?

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. It's great to see high levels of insider ownership, but looking back over the last year, we don't gain confidence from the Archrock insiders selling. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. At Simply Wall St, we've found that Archrock has 3 warning signs (1 is significant!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
