The 7-seat version of the Xpeng X9 was launched on January 1 and saw cumulative deliveries reach 20,000 units on November 25.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will add an 8-seat variant to the X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) tomorrow, after the model saw cumulative deliveries of more than 20,000 units earlier this month.

"December 1, for which we have been preparing for a long time," Xpeng wrote on Weibo today.

The 8-seater Xpeng X9 will be launched tomorrow, the company added in a poster, without revealing any more information.

Launched on January 1, the X9 is the flagship model under Xpeng's SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 2.0 architecture.

The MPV is currently only available in seven-seat versions with a starting price of RMB 359,800 ($49,680), Xpeng's highest priced to date, and deliveries began on January 16.

On November 25, Xpeng announced that it saw the delivery of its 20,000th X9 unit, setting a record for the fastest delivery of premium all-electric large 7-seat MPVs.

In the January-October period, Xpeng delivered 122,478 vehicles, an increase of 20.73 percent year-on-year.

The X9 delivered 18,808 units in January-October, contributing 15.36 percent of Xpeng's deliveries in the same period, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The MPV reached a record high of 3,946 deliveries in March and monthly deliveries have been below 2,000 units since then.

William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of Nio (NYSE: NIO), is one of the owners of the X9. Nio does not currently offer an MPV model.
