TG RUN 2024: STRENGTH IN DIVERSITY, EQUALITY AND INCLUSIVITY
Celebrating Resilience, Recovery and Community
Shah Alam, Sunday, 1 December 2024 Top Glove Corporation Bhd proudly hosted the Top Glove Run 2024 (TG Run 2024), marking another milestone in the company's commitment to fostering resilience, wellbeing and inclusivity. Open to the public for the second consecutive year, this year's run attracted approximately 1,400 participants from diverse backgrounds, including Top Glove employees, Paralympians, persons with disabilities, event partners and members of the public.
The TG Run 2024 tagline, Run the Race, Pave Your Pace, is themed after the glove industry's recovery phase. It symbolises the strength, resilience and unity needed to overcome challenges and build a stronger business. Held just two days before the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December 2024), the event also underscored Top Glove's steadfast commitment to promoting Diversity, Inclusion and Equality (DEI) in the workplace and society. In line with the spirit of inclusivity, over 100 individuals with disabilities from various organisations participated in the run.
Top Glove's Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, who joined in the 3km fun run, highlighted the event's broader purpose: "TG Run is more than just a race; it's a celebration of our commitment to wellness and giving back to society. It is one of our many initiatives to serve the communities we live and work in. As we continue to recover and rebuild together, this event serves as a reminder of the strength we have as a community. Events such as this show that together, we can run the race and pave the way for a stronger, more united future for societies."
TG Run 2024 was made possible thanks to the collaboration of several event partners, including Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), Mine Logistics Sdn Bhd, Yayasan Prihatin Nasional, among others, as well as Top Glove's Board of Directors and Consultants. A list of sponsors is available in the Appendix.
Proceeds raised from the event were donated to 5 charitable organisations, each receiving RM10,000 to support their essential work. Representatives from the following were present to receive the mock cheque during a ceremony held at the Run:
- Malaysian Olympism in Action Society
- Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Klang Selangor
- Persatuan Kebajikan Kasih OKU Selangor
- Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras
- Persatuan Olahraga Para Selangor
In line with the spirit of inclusivity, 62 individuals with disabilities from the 5 beneficiary charitable organisations participated in the run, raising awareness about the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Beyond the race, participants enjoyed a vibrant day, with food trucks and lucky draw, creating a festive atmosphere for everyone. Top Glove's mascots, Toppy and Glovy, brought extra energy and enthusiasm, cheering on participants throughout the event.
Through TG Run 2024, Top Glove continues to reaffirm its dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community bonds and giving back to society.
