While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.
Skyworks Solutions Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Independent Non-Employee Director, Robert Schriesheim, for US$2.3m worth of shares, at about US$90.27 per share. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$88.42. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern. Robert Schriesheim was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

Insider Ownership
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Insiders own 0.4% of Skyworks Solutions shares, worth about US$59m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
