AU Evening Wrap: ASX Falls 1.2%, Dragged Lower by Consumer and Financial Stocks

The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ dropped 1.2 per cent, or 86.7 points to 7129.6 after the Reserve Bank's decision to lift the cash rate by 0.25 per cent.

$Wesfarmers Ltd (WES.AU)$ shares fell 2.1 per cent. $Aristocrat Leisure Ltd (ALL.AU)$ tumbled 2.5 per cent. $The Lottery Corp Ltd (TLC.AU)$ tumbled 3.4 per cent.

$Woolworths Group Ltd (WOW.AU)$ dropped 1.2 per cent. Despite that, $The a2 Milk Co Ltd (A2M.AU)$ shares rallied 1.9 per cent after it received a green light on re-registration from Chinese authorities.

$CommBank (CBA.AU)$ shares dropped 1 per cent. $Westpac Banking Corp (WBC.AU)$ shed 2 per cent. $National Australia Bank Ltd (NAB.AU)$ fell 1.1 per cent. $ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ANZ.AU)$ retreated 1.6 per cent. $ASX Ltd (ASX.AU)$ tumbled 10.2 per cent after reporting that it faced a capital expenditure bill nearly 50 per cent higher for the next financial year.

The industrials sector was also in the red. $Qantas Airways Ltd (QAN.AU)$ tumbled 4.1 per cent after The Australian Financial Review's Street Talk column revealed that its chief executive Alan Joyce sold $17 million in shares. $Transurban Group (TCL.AU)$ dropped 1.4 per cent.

$BHP Group Ltd (BHP.AU)$ Group shares fell 0.9 per cent.
